Vivo V7+ has 24MP Selfie Camera or may be they are Fooling you?[Proofs ]
Vivo launched its flagship phone on Thursday, 7th September, the Vivo V7+. The tagline of the phone is “Clearly it is going to incredible”. The X-factor of this is its 24 Mega Pixel Selfie camera as the company advertising this everywhere. BUT really it has 24MP selfie camera? May be you are wrong, check below Why?
I am pretty sure you are also like others who are seeing so many advertisements here and there from Vivo and OPPO. The company claims to provide the cost effective smartphones in the country.
The specifications which really doesn’t matter to the company while considering the price tag of Rs.21,999. Let’s keep that aside for a moment and see what they give with this Vivo V7+, a 24MP Selfie Camera Phone.
Vivo V7+ Specifications:
Talking about the specifications of the device, It features 5.99inch IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The resolution of the display is 720 x 1440(~269ppi). The 2.5 curved glass build display is protected by Corning Gorilla 3.
The phone is powered by a budget friendly chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 System on Chip(Not a Flagship chip). It is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. You can expand the memory up to 256GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.
The Vivo V7+ supports the VoLTE out of the box and features a 3300mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.2 and all other sensors.
Something missing here? Yes, I did not talk about the camera part and how can I forget the massively hyped “Clear Shots and Clear Selfies / Perfect Selfie / Moonlight ” Camera. Vivo v7+ comes with the 24MP Selfie Camera and on the rear, there is a 16MP camera having f/2.0 aperture and with Dual LED flash.
24MP Selfie Camera with Snapdragon 450, really?
If you might have noticed that I highlighted the SoC and the Front camera right? Yes, that is what the lie here in this phone.
If you look at the specification page of Snapdragon 450 on Qualcomm’s site you find that it supports either 21MP Single Camera or Dual 13MP Cameras on the front. So how can a budget friendly SoC supports 24MP camera on the front because in a press release of SD450 Qualcomm said
The Snapdragon 450 is the first in the 400-tier to support real-time Bokeh (Live Bokeh) effects. It is also designed to improve on previous generations by including support for the enhanced dual camera at 13+13MP, or single camera support up to 21MP; hybrid autofocus; and 1080p video capture and playback at up to 60fps, enabling slow motion capture.
While the testing the Vivo V7+ with some benchmarking apps, Vinay Gowda ( founder of StoriesIO ) along with friends from the media found a surprising thing.
He used an app called CPU X which tells the hardware and software specifications of the device.
The app showed that Vivo v7+ has only 19.7MP Camera on the front, not the 24MP Selfie Camera which is the selling point here.
It again makes us think that how do we believe in these advertisements unless we test each and every phone. because normal people just see the hoarding or banners in the market and buy the phones.

Is Vivo lying here? there is no response from the company on this yet.
The company has been running social media promotions featuring their brand ambassador flaunting the 24 MP front camera of the Vivo V7+.
This surprise came in just at the time when people were finally starting to trust brands from China! Years of heavy online and offline ad spent in India, sponsors of the IPL, and now this? Vivo, we want answers!

If this is a case of false promise then it might be same with previous models from the company or other companies’ phones.
