Xiaomi Mi Pad 3: All you need to know about newly launched tablet | Specs, Price, Changes.
Xiaomi has been passionate when it comes to the tablet market. They tried to come up with tablets with rock-solid performance. That’s when they launched the Mi Pad on June 2014 with the revolutionary Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset.
Its successor the Mi Pad 2, was launched in November 2015. Following this lineup, this year Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 in China.
However, there is currently no word on whether Xiaomi plans to launch the tablet in India or not. The tablet was launched on a recent Mi fan festival held in China.
Let’s take a close look at what has changed from the Mi Pad 2 to Mi Pad 3.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 CPU, GPU, and Memory-
First of all, the processor Intel X5-Z8500 in the Mi Pad 2 has been replaced by Mediatek’s 28nm Hexa-core MT8176. In MT8176, 2 Primary Cortex A72 cores running at 2.0 GHz clock speed and 4 cores Cortex A53run at 1.6 GHz.
MT8176 comes with IMG PowerVR GX6250 Graphics Processing Unit with Imagiq and MiraVision technology and it is capable of Video encoding h.264, h.265 and Video decoding of h.264, h.265 / HEVC, VP-9 formats as well.
RAM has expanded from 2GB to 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 module. The tablet packs 64GB of internal storage. Specifications of the storage module specification have been changed from eMMC 4.5 to eMMC 5.0 which will be responsible for faster read and write data.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Camera and Display-
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 packs a 13MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture on the rear of course with PDAF technology and a 5-megapixel front shooter with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. The predecessor Mi Pad 2 had an 8MP primary rear camera.
The Mi Pad 3 ships a 7.9-Inch Retina Display with 2048×1536 pixels resolution, a pixel density of 326ppi and 2.5D curved glass panel on the top of it.
The display comes with features like Eye Protection mode so that you can read at night without holding strain on Eyes, and also a black & white mode that mimics as an e-Ink Display.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Battery and Connectivity-
Nestling under the smart metal casing, there is a large 6600mAh battery for which Xiaomi claims, it will give you 12 hours of talk time and up to 867 hours of standby time. It must be noted that the Mi Pad 2 had 6190mAh.
The giant 6,600mAh battery supports 5V/2A fast charging all thanks to Mediatek’s Pump Express 2.0 charging technology.
The tablet supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and USB Type-C port. The presence of VoLTE in the tablet will definitely be a great attraction for the Indian customers if Xiaomi has any plans for India.
Since most of the leading brands are now preferring USB Type-C Ports over the standard micro-USB port. So use of USB Type-C port is indeed a great decision put forth by the company.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 OS-
Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is running on Android Marshmallow based Xiaomi’s in-house customUI MIUI8. The latest version of MIUI8 brings a lot of new features and performance improvements to the tablet.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Price-
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 will retail at RMB 1,499/$250 (around Rs 14,100). We think at this price point, Xiaomi has come up with a tough competition to other brands in the market.
